Y2PK Program

Structured for children aged 18 months to 30 months, students learn competency in many skills such as walking, climbing, and running. The curriculum ensures students develop their physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual characteristics while also building self esteem and learning acceptable behavior. Students enjoy basic academic lessons that ready them for the two year old classroom.

2PK Program

Geared toward children who are 30 months old, Group play, learning to share, and mastering self-help skills are all part of a child’s second year. Our 2K Classroom is set up with organized and colorful centers and our staff help our youngest students to become successful with skills that include following classroom routines and learning to be part of a group. Students are exposed to an environment rich in language. They use and enjoy listening to stories, nursery rhymes, finger-plays and song. Manipulatives are used in the classroom for hands-on experiences to promote muscle development. Art is offered everyday which encourages our philosophy of process art versus product. Different means are used for art including play-dough, large crayons, paints, markers, water colors, etc. The 2K Centers are rich with materials and help our children become creative and responsible members of the classroom.

3PK Program

Students must be 3 years old by September 1st of the enrolling year. Growth in language development, the ability to distinguish real from imaginary, and expressing words about experiences are stressed in this important third year of growth. A three-year old is still highly self-centered but with less egocentrism. Independence is still being asserted, with a more positive and socially acceptable attitude. Thriving on choices, play with others is more readily accepted. The self selected stimulating centers in classrooms include writing, art, books, housekeeping, blocks and nature. Our 3K Classroom offers free choice of learning materials and toys.

Voluntary PreKindergarten
In order to be accepted into Woodlands’ VPK Program a child must be 4 years of age by September 1st of the enrolling year. The four-year old curriculum is based on what we know about four year olds! They are a noisy bunch that asks questions – who, why, when how – constantly! Vocabulary can be up to 1500 words and they use sentences of 5 to 6 words. Asking the meaning of words is a given. They enjoy jokes, silly language and rhyming words. They begin to develop an awareness of “good” and “bad.” Telling secrets is a treat and “tall tales” quite common! They enjoy simple games, recognize some letters, can count to 30, name and match colors, enjoy puzzles and have developed a sense of time. Gross and fine motor skills are seen in play time and at the writing table. In a nutshell, it is a pleasure to be able to see them flourish. Our VPK/4K classrooms invite children to make choices in centers of writing, art, music, nature, housekeeping, blocks, books and more.
If you plan to have your child attend the VPK program, please go to the below website and complete the online application for the certificate of eligibility. Providing Woodlands with the printed certificate will allow us to add your child to our roster, thus securing your spot in our VPK Program. https://familyservices.floridaearlylearning.com/

Extended Care

7:30 AM – 6 PM Daily
To enhance each child’s growth and development, we encourage parents to enroll their children in the extended care program. Children work on social skills as they enjoy each other’s company in a relaxed yet enriched environment. Many of our students stay for “Lunch Bunch” which has become a Woodlands favorite. Our affordable programs meet throughout the year, five days a week (including spring break, winter break and summer).
